Pennsylvania’s natural gas refueling network is expanding in the heart of the Marcellus Shale as new compressed natural gas (CNG) infrastructure comes online at a GetGo convenience store in Cranberry Township.

Like many other companies with trucking fleets, the owner of the GetGo’s parent company is converting many of its own heavy-duty trucks to run on natural gas. The company also opened its first pair of CNG stations, located in the Pittsburgh area, in July 2011.

The new station in Cranberry Township is centrally located close to both I-79 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. And it’s the first of its kind in Butler County, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

“We have offered various alternative fuels at select GetGo locations for a number of years and are excited to be introducing [compressed natural gas] into this mix,” said a company spokesman.
