The high cost of imported oil is driving many companies to purchase vehicles powered by cheaper, cleaner, domestically produced natural gas. And no wonder. At today’s fuel prices, filling your tank with natural gas costs the equivalent of 85 cents per gallon! This stark pricing differential has led to the opening of yet another auto dealership that specializes in compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles.

CNG Auto Sales, which opened for business this past weekend in Tulsa, will market its services to contractors in the construction, plumbing and service industries. In addition to providing CNG conversions, CNG Auto Sales will also partner with other companies to offer full-service repair for CNG-powered vehicles.

Oklahoma is fertile ground for such a venture. In addition to the existence of numerous CNG fueling stations, the state offers tax credits to offset the purchase of a CNG-powered vehicle

“Small businesses may benefit the most,” said Ted Massad. “The tax breaks and reduced fuel costs could save them an average $5,000 per vehicle each year on fleet costs, thus opening up money for adding employees.”
