The list of U.S. companies that are turning to cleaner burning, low cost domestic natural gas continues to accelerate as telecommunications giant Verizon announced that it would buy 500 Ford E-250 Cargo vans with engines that burn compressed natural gas. A wide array of companies, including Yellow Cab, UPS, and AT&T, have already recognized how natural gas can trim corporate costs and lower greenhouse gases versus higher priced imported diesel.

The company plans to use the natural gas-powered vans in select markets nationwide with pre-existing fueling stations that are already dispensing compressed natural gas. The vans themselves will be utilized primarily by technicians who make house calls and install phone, cable television, and Internet services.
