Speaking Thursday at a natural gas conference at Southern Methodist University, former President George W. Bush told the audience that during his presidency, he worried about the influence exerted on foreign policy by major energy producers Iran and Venezuela.

He went on to talk about how important it is for our national and economic security to be less dependent on foreign energy sources and that the new technologies giving the US access to our own sources of energy such as natural gas, will help us achieve energy independence.
