U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Ill) has become the 59th Member of Congress to sign the Pickens Plan Pledge for energy independence.
Schock signed the pledge during a meeting with Pickens Plan founder, T. Boone Pickens.

Rep. Schock is the youngest member of the U.S. Congress, having been born in 1981. (The Constitution requires that Members of the House have reached the age of 25, Members of the Senate must be at least 30.) Rep. Schock won election to the seat which had previously been held by Ray LaHood who is now the U.S. Secretary of Transportation.

Congressman Schock signing the Pledge is important because continuing momentum in the Congress is crucial to the success Pickens Plan. The NAT GAS Act (H.R. 1835 in the House and S. 1408 in the Senate) which has a remarkable 87 bi-partisan co-sponsors, will help jump start the natural gas vehicle (NGV) industry in the United States by providing tax incentives to fleet owners for replacing their vehicles burning imported gasoline or diesel with domestic natural gas.
