Among the topics Pickens discussed was the presence in the Middle East of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet, which protects the 17 million barrels of OPEC oil that get shipped through the Straits of Hormuz on a daily basis. How much of that oil goes to the U.S.? Try a paltry 10 percent.
Another topic that Pickens focused on was the North American Energy Alliance to utilize the resources of Mexico, the U.S., and Canada to secure energy independence from OPEC oil.
