Tar sands will not pump without catastrophic pipeline breaks and breaches. We have seen that in existing pipelines that pump petroleum — this happens even when you are not pumping petroleum that lacks the corrosives. Worse yet, focus on the word “tar”. Tell me what you need to do to pump TAR. High temperatures and pressures coupled with corrosives is just asking for catastrophe. And worse yet, consider where the peteroleum club (NOT the USA) wants to pump tar sands, over the Ogalalla Aquaifer. The next generation will wonder where we got our common sense when we leave them with that legacy. I’m disappointed in T.Boone Pickens for promoting Keystone on this. Why doesn’t Canada refine their own tar instead of selling it to our petroleum club?

We need to put people back to work in American and the energy industry is one huge way to employ American workers who will supply us with not only new energy sources, but also the many other businesses that will be born from the gas extraction.

But there are other choices. Canada, albeit a better partner than the Saudis, is still a foreign country and does nothing to stem the outflow of money from the U.S. We have natural gas and that’s where our development dollar should go.

Your comments are full of mis-information. You lead everybody here to believe the pipeline breaks in Michigan to be the results of Tar Sands Oil and that whole communities here in Michigan have been displaced by it. I live in Michigan. I know the truth. The responsible company for the pipeline break in Michigan has stepped up and completed a great job of remediation, and improvements in the area that the spill has happened. This is America and not permitting the reporting of disasters is somebody’s fantasy. I don’t buy it!

Since he refused to move on his own he decomposed and became a useful part of the soil.

Buffet, if I am not mistaken, also owns the company that builds the tank railcars that haul the oil. POLITICS!!!!

We must be heard in Washington. We sure don’t want that 250 billion barrels of oil at Ft. MacMurray, Alberta to go west to China. That would be a terrible loss.
