In an editorial following a speech by T. Boone Pickens, the Williamsport Sun-Gazette has endorsed the Pickens Plan. The editorial states that
“We’re angry that the elected officials we pay to represent the futures of this country are so stuck in politics and lacking vision that they can’t see the wisdom and practicality of the energy plan Pickens laid out.”
Pickens reminded his audience that the Pickens Plan is not a Republican or Democratic plan. The editorial quoted him as having said:
“I know this plan can work and any politician that doesn’t have an energy plan is merely going with the OPEC plan, which we can’t afford.”
The editors of the Sun-Gazette wrote:
“Our suggestion is that the people who now run Washington drop their arrogance and egos and start listening – like yesterday.
“Our nation’s future vitality and foreign policy effectiveness may, in fact, depend on having a sound energy plan.”
