Boone Pickens is in it to win it, a point he hammered home as he discussed the prospects for passage of H.R. 1380, the NAT GAS Act, in the House of Representatives with the editors at the Amarillo Globe-News.

During an hour-long interview earlier this week, Pickens made it clear to the editors that relying on domestic energy sources to decrease America’s dependence on foreign oil is a topic every citizen should be concerned with.

“It’s a security issue,” he said.

With job creation shaping up as the focal point of the 2012 presidential election, Pickens sees developing domestic fuel sources as an ideal opportunity to create employment as well as capture fuel expenditures that would otherwise be going overseas.

Pickens also pointed out that recent technological breakthroughs have created a once in a blue moon opportunity to utilize domestic natural gas as a bridge fuel that could power large corporate fleets of as well as heavy trucks today.
