Boone Pickens and Fox Business’s Brian Sullivan engaged in a lively discussion this afternoon about America’s dangerous dependence on foreign oil. The interview, which took place in the legendary energy executive’s Dallas office, was broadcast live on Fox Business.
“What about a broader energy plan?” asked Sullivan, who talked at length about Washington’s failure to develop a comprehensive plan for the country. He also pointed out that America’s dependence on foreign oil has increased from 24 percent in the 1970s to over 60 percent today.
“We’re going in the wrong direction,” Sullivan added; Pickens agreed.
Pickens pointed out that America’s addiction to oil from the Middle East is funding the Taliban, a point he backed up by referring to a Wall Street Journal article by former CIA Director James Woolsey.
“We are going to have a plan for America,” Pickens said.
“You’ve got to go all America, and get off the oil you’re buying from the enemy,” says Pickens.
