  • Georgia State Leader Sam Fleet worked with the Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition to get a nat gas powered GTO prominently displayed at our October 18th Town Hall event.
  • Idaho State Leader Ryan Jones continues to assail local and state elected officials with regular emails asking about energy independence and the Pickens Plan. Below is a response from Boise, ID Mayor Dave Bieter.

Dear Mr. Jones,

Thank you for contacting my office regarding energy usage. Yes, the City of Boise has taken several steps to reduce our reliance on imported oil. I have issued directives giving preference to the purchase of flex-fuel and hybrid vehicles for our fleet. Boise is a participant in the Clean Cities program, which helped land a U.S. Department of Energy grant to construct a compressed natural gas fueling facility for Allied Waste’s fleet. And we are currently revising our Comprehensive Land-Use Plan to encourage more walk able neighborhoods, alternative transportation and reduced vehicle miles traveled, all of which add up to reductions in the use of foreign petroleum.

I wish you the best of luck in your important endeavors.

Sincerely,

David H. Bieter
Mayor

  • New York District Leader Jon Hand found an online opportunity to promote the Pickens Plan. He responded to the question “Ask the White House!” on CNNMoney.com. He asked the following question: “And for the sake of our economy, our security, and the future of our planet, I will set a clear goal as president: In 10 years, we will finally end our dependence on oil from the Middle East.” — President Barack Obama. What is the President doing to keep this promise?” Jon then shared the link and his question via his Facebook page.
  • North Carolina District Leader followed up with Congressman Walter Jones and Senator Richard Burr to confirm that they support the NAT GAS Act and will follow up with Governor Perdue in the coming week.
  • Regional Leader Ed Matricardi drafted a “thank you” letter for Boone to send to VA Governor Bob McDonnell on 10/14/10 and helped follow up with Governor’s staff regarding a potential executive order on state government fleet vehicles.
  • Texas army member Carol Moore met with Congressman Ralph Hall and discussed his potential support for natural gas legislation during a lame duck session of Congress.
