Army:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: The Pickens Plan would not be where it is today without the New Energy Army.

So on this 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, I’ve asked some of my most loyal foot soldiers to share their thoughts on what makes Earth Day so important for the Pickens Plan. Here’s what they had to say. If you want to get involved in the Pickens Plan at the state or local level, click the link below to learn how you can take action.

Jon Hand, NY-05 District Leader
“Earth Day is crucial in order to successfully raise awareness about America’s energy crisis. Earth Day and the Pickens Plan can have a mutually beneficial relationship if District Leaders effectively communicate that natural gas burns 22% cleaner than gasoline and that a large investment in this resource will allow us to develop the technology to one day run our country entirely on renewable energy sources. Let everyone know that implementing the Pickens Plan is in the best interest of our country and our planet.”

Dave Clement, Arizona State Leader
“From Boone Pickens down to my 14 year old son Austin, even my grandchildren and everyone in between, they all agree we have to take care of our earth, our planet. It is the only one we have for us now and our children in the future. Part of that is choosing more wisely the fuels we use for transportation and industry. A big part of the Pickens Plan is to use better American alternatives to help us get off of foreign oil. That means using cleaner and better fuel with less down side to our world! That’s exactly what Earth Day is about!”

Mike Johnston, Pennsylvania State Leader
“Earth Day is intended to be the one day each year that all of us come together to do positive things for our planet regardless of political affiliation. I saw that same spirit last year at the National Clean Energy Summit where Boone Pickens, Al Gore and many others from business, industry, the political world and environmental groups all sat together and agreed on working toward a common goal. Let’s keep that same spirit alive on this Earth Day and throughout the year ahead as we continue the fight for a clean energy America!”

Jeff Greene, Florida State Leader
“Earth Day is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment. With Earth Day celebrating its 40th year and the Pickens Plan coming up on two years, it gives us time to reflect on what this country has achieved and what it has left to accomplish. The Pickens Plan is pushing for an energy policy that has not existed in this country since before the first Earth Day, but hopefully will exist by the next one.”

Ryan Jones, Idaho State Leader
“Earth Day reminds me to appreciate the privilege of living in a pristine place like Idaho. It is the earth that makes Idaho a successful state. The Pickens Plan matters on Earth Day because developing the domestic energy resources described in the plan will not only help bring our troops home from foreign wars and snap the back of OPEC, but will have a positive impact on the air we breath.”
