Senator Mark Udall of Colorado

Senator Mark Udall of Colorado spoke of the bipartisan support that the Pickens Plan now enjoys on Capitol Hill. In an appearance Wednesday on the CNBC program Mad Money at High Noon, Udall replied to program host Jim Cramer by saying, “There are a group of us who are really promoting natural gas. It is a bridge fuel.”

Udall demonstrated a ready knowledge of the new energy economy that has been created over the last decade by ever larger reserves of natural gas. Udall not only singled out some of the country’s largest shales – the Marcellus in the Northeast and the Barnett in the Southwest – but he accurately noted that natural gas will be a key part of the energy future of countries around the world.

The senator singled out the bipartisan backing for the NAT GAS Act. “There’s movement here. There’s momentum. We need to take advantage of this remarkable resource known as natural gas,” Udall added.

“I know we are going to get a natural gas title in a big energy bill,” Udall said.
