Harvey Johnson, Texas State Leader

-Tell us a little about yourself

I was born June 6, 1955 in Marlin, Texas. I have been married for 36 years, have four grown children and six grandchildren. I am proud to be one of the Texas state leaders for the Pickens plan.

-Why are you a part of the Pickens Plan?

I believe that the time has come in this great nation of ours for each and every person to stop being dependent on other resources. I often think about the Indians as well as those settlers, our ancestors, who settled all over this great land. I marvel at the way they all were self-sufficient, yet could rely on each other for help. This country, as well as all the countries in the world, need to be able to rely on alternative resources.

For so long, our country has been dependent on other countries to supply us with energy. We need to be able to power our cars and heat our homes with our own resources. Gas prices have sky rocketed in the last few years and they will continue to soar as long as we are held hostage by foreign oil.

-Tell us about things you’ve done to promote the Pickens Plan

I choose to be a part of the Pickens plan because I believe in what Mr. Pickens is doing. He is not only teaching us, but he is providing the American people ways to be self-sufficient. He is opening the door to resources that can change the way Americans live.  I see people on a daily basis and am always glad to strike up a conversation with them about what the Pickens Plan has to offer. I find that there are a lot of people who do not understand what the Pickens Plan is trying to accomplish. In those discussions, I am more than happy to explain the Pickens Plan, what we have accomplished and our mission moving forward.

-Share one idea for what you’d like to accomplish through your work with the Pickens Plan in the next 3 months.

I would love to be able to spread the word about the Pickens plan to every home in the great state of Texas, and encourage each Pickens Plan member in every state, especially leaders, to do the same. We need to be heard in Washington and our state capitals. Army members should take every opportunity to attend local meetings, hold radio and television interviews and write letters to the editor supporting the Plan. Let’s let our voices be heard!

I just want to personally say thanks to T. Boone Pickens, his staff and to each of you for allowing me to be a part of such a great organization.

“Meet the Army” is a series here on Daily Pickens featuring New Energy Army members and how they are making a difference by being involved in the Pickens Plan. Who knows, maybe we’ll see you here soon! Click here to join your State and District Groups and get involved.
