A Dallas firm, BAF Technologies, has emerged as a leader in helping cities, ports and corporations make the move from vehicles running on imported gasoline and diesel to those running on domestic natural gas.

That is a central tenet of the Pickens Plan.

An article in the Dallas Morning News by John Colman states,

The company converts traditionally powered vehicles to run on cleaner-burning natural gas.

BAF has obtained large contracts such as converting shuttle buses for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and pickups for the California Port Authority in Los Angeles.

The largest contract, though, is from AT&T which in March announced it would be replacing 17 percent of its fleet – which is one of the largest in America – with vehicles running on natural gas and other renewable fuels. They are purchasing 8,000 truck chassis built by an U.S. automaker which BAF will then convert to run on natural gas.

As evidence that “green” can be good for jobs, the Dallas Morning News reporter writes:

In this harsh economic environment, BAF is hiring while many other companies are firing. The company is nearly doubling its workforce over the coming months and is poised to profit from an expanding industry.

The Pickens Plan supported AT&T’s announcement in March as evidence that major corporations, looking to ways to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, are settling on domestic natural gas as a major piece of that effort.
