T. Boone Pickens appeared on CNBC’s Squawk Box program Tuesday morning and talked about the portions of the stimulus package which directly effect wind and solar energy. “I’m about this wide,” Boone said putting his hands about a foot apart. “I’m focused on the energy part of this and I haven’t paid all that much attention to what else is in the plan.”

Pickens that in addition to wind and solar “We got the grid in the stimulus package which is very important for the whole system.”

But he pointed out that “Now, we have to get natural gas in as a transportation fuel, then we’ll have the whole package at that point.”

Pickens said that the natural gas part of the Pickens Plan would “come in as part of the energy bill” which will be dealt with separately by the Congress from the stimulus package.

CNBC studio host Carl Quintanilla asked Boone about the New Energy Army and how big it is. “We’ve got 1,400,000,” Boone said.

He pointed out that when he called for the Army to send e-mails to the Congress on the energy part of the stimulus package “we got over 60,000 in five hours so we have a very active group.”

“We’ve got to have an energy plan for America,” Boone said. “And the people who are in the Army fully realize that.”
