From an editorial by Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry in the Edmond Sun:
Our nation’s addiction to foreign oil has reached epidemic proportions. Nearly 70 percent of the United States’ oil comes from foreign sources, making us reliant on many nations openly hostile to our country and even supportive of terrorism. This fact can have grim ramifications in terms of our national security, economy and environment.
Amid the current energy crisis, some bold and visionary people are stepping forward with plans to wean America off its unhealthy addiction. Among them is Oklahoma native T. Boone Pickens. The famed oilman and philanthropist has unveiled an energy plan that I believe merits serious consideration.
The Pickens Plan transcends partisanship and political ideology. Instead, it offers a straightforward, compelling argument that a peak in world oil production requires powerful new ideas.
Gov. Henry obviously gets what the Pickens Plan is about. His entire editorial is worth reading.
